About Kensington
Mara West Foundation
Mara West Foundation aims to alleviate poverty in rural Kenya, focusing on girls and women through infrastructure and services in education and health.

Opening Doors Through Education
Mara West Foundation works extensively with the local Maasai leadership to identify projects which will improve the quality of life for the community. They understand the key to sustainable development is providing local children with educational opportunities. Early on the Maasai elders were asked what their community needed; “schools” was one of their answers.

Building healthier communities
Access to schools opens a future where there are greater possibilities, but education alone isn’t the silver bullet solution. An ecosystem of resources, including access to healthcare, fosters a community of support. The first AMS Health Clinic was established in December 2008 to offer primary medical care, including emergency services, ambulance transfers, immunizations, and outpatient services. It now services a population of approximately 11,000 people, predominantly from the Maasai tribe. With the growing need for women’s health services in the community, an 11,000 sq. ft. Women’s Health Centre opened in June 2024, creating a facility that offers dignified care to all women.
Kensington has supported these developments in health services, including:
Final funding for a Trans Mara Region ambulance
A perimeter fence, stainless steel cabinetry, medical equipment, and furniture for the Women’s Health Centre
