Accepted Answer

Yes, Kensington is celebrated for our ability to turn complex international itineraries into seamless travel experiences. With deep regional insight and expert planning, we curate fully customizable itineraries that simplify even the most intricate journeys.

Question 47

Does Kensington offer travel insurance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer comprehensive travel protection designed with the needs of a private guided traveler in mind. In your customized quote, you’ll find multiple protection options to help safeguard your investment and provide added support before and during your trip. For more info, explore the FAQs below or ask your Destination Expert.

Question 48

What does travel protection cover?

Accepted Answer

Your well-being matters to us, so travel insurance is required for every journey. Whether you choose a plan through Kensington Tours or another provider, you’ll need at least USD $200,000 in medical, evacuation, and repatriation coverage for all the dates of your travel program. We’re happy to help you find a plan, though securing your coverage is ultimately up to you. Beyond the required medical coverage, you may also select additional policy benefits such as trip cancellation and interruption, travel delays, and lost, stolen, or delayed baggage. Every plan is a little different, so we encourage you to read the full policy and lean on your Destination Expert to help you decide what policy feels right for your trip. By deciding to purchase travel protection within the required purchase window (at time of deposit), you’ll receive the free medical waiver look‑back benefit instead of waiting and losing this important feature. Our policies all come with a free 21 ‑ day review window, so if you change your mind, you can cancel the policy and request a full refund. Ask your Destination Expert; they will give you the last date for the free ‑ look cancellation.

Question 49

When should travelers purchase travel protection?

Accepted Answer

We recommend purchasing travel protection at time of booking. Every insurer is different, so terms and timing vary from plan to plan. That said, you can generally purchase a policy anytime up to the day before departure. Just note that certain time‑sensitive benefits must be secured early. To be eligible for benefits such as pre‑existing medical waivers or pre‑departure coverage (including trip cancellation and interruption or “Cancel for Any Reason”), most plans require you to select and pay for coverage at the same time as trip payment or first deposit. Most insurance companies offer a 14 ‑ 21 day “free look” period, which gives you the chance to review the policy that you purchased. If you change your mind and want to cancel the policy within the free‑look window, you will receive a full policy refund (provided there are no claims against the policy). Any cancelation after the free‑look period is non‑cancellable. If you secure your plan through Kensington Tours, your Destination Expert can confirm the free‑look period that applies to your policy and the last date to cancel.

Question 50

What if I need help during my trip?

Accepted Answer

Help is close by, no matter what comes up: Call our support line, available 24/7: 1 888 903 2001 Ask your private guide or driver. They can help with in‑destination issues, adjusting your itinerary, or securing alternate accommodations or transportation. Contact your travel insurance provider. If the situation may involve a claim. If you purchased travel insurance, you can also contact Kensington using the designated phone number and contact information listed on your traveler documents. For serious situations (such as a medical issue, a lost or stolen passport, or anything requiring police or your embassy), contact local authorities, a hospital, or your country's embassy or consulate directly, and let us know as soon as you can so we can help coordinate next steps.

Question 51

What happens if I need to cancel my trip?

Accepted Answer

We understand that plans can change. If you do need to cancel your trip, please note that a $350 per person administrative fee applies, and some deposits and prepayments may be non ‑ refundable. In addition to the below, depending on your itinerary, certain hotels, cruise lines, airlines, or other suppliers may also charge their own cancellation fees or require non‑refundable deposits or payments for particular services or components of your travel program. For travel programs that do not include a Cruise or Villa, cancellation fees depend on how far in advance you cancel: 90 days or more before departure: Full refund, minus the $350 per person administrative fee. 60 ‑ 89 days before departure: A cancellation fee equal to your deposit (30% of your total trip price) applies. 30 ‑ 59 days before departure: A cancellation fee of 50% of your total trip price applies. 29 days or less before departure: A cancellation fee of 100% of your total trip price applies. Different cancellation terms apply if your travel program includes a Cruise or a Villa. Cruise cancellations are governed by the Cruise Terms and Conditions, and Villa reservations are non ‑ refundable and governed by the Villa Terms and Conditions. Ask your Destination Expert for details. We highly recommend purchasing a comprehensive travel protection plan that includes cancellation coverage. If you need to cancel, insurance may be your only source of reimbursement. Keep in mind that coverage varies widely and not all plans cover cancellation, so it’s important to choose a plan with the right protection for your trip. Review your policy carefully to confirm what is and isn’t covered, and speak with your Destination Expert if you have questions.

Question 52

What cancellation fees apply if my itinerary includes a Villa?

Accepted Answer

All confirmed Villa reservations are non ‑ refundable.
