A Sight To Behold
Meet your driver-guide for a full day private tour of the Postojna Caves, Predjama Castle, and Lipica Equestrian Center. You will start with visit of the famous Postojna Cave which is the largest known cave system in Slovenia. Postojna Cave is a 20 km complex of wondrously sculpted galleries, chambers, and halls. A visit deserves full attention due to the beauty and diversity of shapes, expansive cave areas, stalactite and stalagmite formations and water characteristics. Observe the cave with an experienced guide and from an electric cave train. Having returned to the surface, the tour will take you to idyllic village of Predjama, where perched high up on a vertical cliff stands Predjama Castle. The castle dates to the middle ages and is known for its location built in front of a cave, and its myths about Erazem, the knight who opposed the czar and his army. It is an interesting and romantic sight throughout the year: in the spring and the summer its surroundings are abundant with blossoms and flowers, in the autumn it is clad in the colors of surrounding forests and it is at its most enchanting in the winter when the surrounding area is covered in snow. Continue on to Lipica, the home of the Lipizzan horse and the largest Lipizzan stud farm in the world. Experience it in the company of over 300 majestic and white Lipizzan horses across more than 300 hectares of green space. The Lipica estate is the central attraction of the Karst region, and one of Slovenia’s main cultural monuments. In addition to the breeding of horses, Lipica is also a monument with over 400 years of cultural and natural heritage that was co-shaped in harmony between man and horse. Following your tour, return to Ljubljana.

Take to the Trails
Enjoy a transfer from Ljubljana to Bled with a private vehicle and driver. Approximate travel time is 45 minutes.
Meet your private driver-guide for a half day tour of Bled and a hike in the beautiful Vintgar Gorge. Start with a walking tour of the 1000-year-old town of Bled and stroll around its picturesque lake, one of the most popular walks in the country. Marvel at the pristine, aquamarine color of the lakes waters, and enjoy superb views over medieval Bled Castle and the surrounding mountains. The next leg of your tour will be a hike in the Vintgar Gorge, a real jewel of nature. The Vintgar Gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills and is graced by the crystal-clear Radovna River with its waterfalls, pools, and rapids. For 1.6 km, boardwalks crisscross their way along the Radovna River, creating an enchanting landscape that is both photogenic and fun to explore. Your trail leads you over wooden bridges (named Zumer Galleries) and ends with a bridge overlooking the mighty 53 feet high Sum waterfall. A snack is provided during your hike and the Vintgar Gorge entrance fee is included.
Dine at Old Cellar Bled, where Slovenian flavors are presented with a more modern touch in a lakefront setting overlooking Bled’s island and castle. Dishes such as smoked trout pate, gnocchi with truffles, river trout, or lamb shank give the menu a strong local and seasonal feel. Your Destination Expert can assist with a reservation, and the meal will be settled directly at the restaurant.

Tastes and Traditions
Meet your driver guide for a private tour of the Bled countryside with a visit to the Bohinj Valley, where you'll embark on a discovery of the traditional cheese making methods of the region, before visiting an organic beekeeper on your return. Your tour starts with a drive to Bohinj, one of the most beautiful Alpine glacial valleys in the heart of the Julian Alps. The pastures here provide very specific grazing for cows, and the fine milk produced as a result goes some way towards explaining why Bohinj is famous for its cheese. Here you will be taken back in time and shown the traditional methods of alpine dairy farming in this region, seeing just how some of the best Slovenian cheeses are made and reveling in the opportunity to taste many different types. For lunch, you'll make a stop at a local restaurant. On return to Bled you'll visit an organic beekeeper that has a very long honey tradition in the region; the apiary is more than 60-years-old. Beekeeping occupies a special place in Slovenia's economy as one of its oldest traditional crafts, and here you'll experience all the phases of honey production and conclude with a honey tasting.
Set aside time for a gentle self-guided evening stroll in Zdraviliski Park, just above the lakeside promenade in Bled. Pathways, greenery, and the park’s elegant central pavilion create an easy setting to slow the pace before or after dinner, with occasional seasonal craft stalls and local food-and-drink offerings adding extra atmosphere in the warmer months. This is an independent suggestion, with any refreshments or transportation settled directly.
