It’s All Ancient History
Embark on a full day tour with a private guide and transportation, setting out to discover two highlights of Romania, the stunning Peles Castle, and Transylvania's infamous Bran Castle. Two hours north of Bucharest, and crossing through the picturesque Southern Carpathians, you'll arrive to Sinaia, visiting the iconic 19th century Peles Castle. Commissioned by King Carol I in 1873, this beautiful Neo-Renaissance masterpiece is situated amidst majestic mountain scenery, a setting truly befit of royalty. As one of the most photographed and published sites in all of Romania, this must-see royal palace is very often the primary draw to Romania for visitors from the West. Continuing onward to Bran, you'll enjoy a midday break in Azuga, where an optional wine tasting experience (if desired) can be appended to your day, payable on the spot. Continue to Transylvania where you'll visit the medieval Bran Castle, also known as Dracula's Castle, based on links to Bram Stoker's classic tale, Dracula. While there's no verifiable documentation that Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Dracula, ever actually set foot in Bran Castle, the legend and lore linking this ruthless leader with Bran Castle and Dracula is still as strong as ever. Take in the ambiance, and decide for yourself, as you visit rooms within the castle and stroll the historic grounds. Conclude your day with a nearly 3-hour transfer back to Bucharest.

A Walk Through the Past
Overlooking the Danube river in the heart of Buda’s Castle District, the neighboring sites of Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion are two of Budapest’s most iconic historic buildings. With your private guide, spend a half day discovering the breathtaking architecture and mesmerizing views of the city. Start at the Matthias Church, a Roman Catholic masterpiece dating back to 1015. Rebuilt in Gothic style during the 14th century, this historic site has served as both a mosque during Turkish rule and a symbol of Hungarian resilience, later restored with Baroque influences. Next, visit the Fisherman’s Bastion, a neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque marvel constructed between 1895 and 1902. Its seven towers honor the Magyar tribes who first settled the region, while its sweeping terraces offer unmatched panoramic views of the city and the Danube River—a great spot for unforgettable photos.
Ease into the evening in Budapest, where a self-guided riverside stroll or rooftop drink offers an easy way to take in the city after dark. From the Danube to the skyline above Pest, illuminated bridges, domes, and landmark facades create one of the capital’s most memorable evening settings. Your Destination Expert can help point you toward a rooftop such as 360 Bar, High Note SkyBar, or St. Andrea Wine & Skybar, depending on the mood you prefer.
