Rare Sightings
Departing from central Reykjavik, join a small group of 16 or fewer participants for a journey inside the dormant Thrihnukagigur, one of few volcanoes on earth you can enter. With your expert guide, hike about 2 miles across rugged lava fields—the only way to reach the crater opening besides helicopter—before descending roughly 400 feet by open cable lift into the vast magma chamber. Spend around 30 minutes on the volcano floor exploring multicolored rock walls and hearing stories of Iceland’s volcanic forces, then warm up with traditional hearty soup and a hot drink before the hike back. Terrain is rocky and uneven; a walking pole is recommended if mobility is a concern.
Soar across Iceland’s glaciers, fjords, and volcanic landscapes on this self-guided immersive flight simulation, where full-motion seating and a sweeping 65-foot spherical screen create the sensation of true flight. Suspended with your feet dangling, you’ll glide over dramatic terrain as wind, mist, scents, and a cinematic score heighten the realism. The venue is easily reached on foot from central Reykjavik, and your Destination Expert can arrange pre-booked admission to ensure a seamless visit.

Venture into the Outdoors
From hot springs to high speeds and icy snorkeling, join your private driver-guide for a hiking excursion in the breathtaking Reykjadalur Valley, followed by a zipline adventure in the Black Canyon, and snorkeling in the world-renowned Silfra fissure. As you drive along the Ring Road into the picturesque Icelandic countryside, you'll be led on a scenic multi-hour hike into Reykjadalur. Here, hot water cascades down the slopes of the Hellisheidi mountain range, creating numerous natural hot springs amidst the stunning landscape. Don't forget to bring your bathing suit and towel so you can take a relaxing dip in the warm Reykjadalur River. Next, prepare for the thrill of a lifetime as you join a small group of 18 or fewer participants to experience the longest zipline in Iceland. This 0.6-mile ride is an adrenaline-pumping journey that begins with the awe-inspiring Black Canyon, featuring beautiful waterfalls and towering columnar basalt formations, and concludes at the stunning Reykjadalsa river. For the zipline experience, pre-select one of two options - gliding at a leisurely pace to absorb the breathtaking scenery, or opt for the adrenaline-pumping head-first racing harness, soaring headfirst over the gorge. Later, make your way to Lake Thingvallavatn in Thingvellir National Park, where you'll join an expert dive guide to snorkel in the icy glacial waters of the Silfra fissure—one of Iceland's best-kept secrets. Swim between two tectonic plates that drift apart by nearly an inch every year, and discover a crystal-clear water wonderland, regarded as one of the world's premier freshwater snorkeling destinations. Conclude with a return transfer to your hotel.
Sumac brings Middle Eastern flavors together with fresh Icelandic ingredients, shaping a menu built around fire-grilled dishes, aromatic spices, and bold combinations. Inspired by the energy of Beirut and North Africa, the open kitchen and long bar create a lively setting, complemented by Mediterranean-style cocktails and a thoughtfully curated wine list. You’ll settle the bill at the restaurant, and we’ll confirm your reservation subject to availability.

Meet your private guide and embark on a full day tour pushing east of Vik to discover a less-explored stretch of Iceland's remarkable beauty, also taking part in a thrilling zodiac boat excursion in a glacier lagoon. You'll first head to admire the stunning Fjardargljufur Canyon, a narrow serpentine-like canyon carved by the wandering Fjadra River. Continue on a course between ocean and glaciers to Skaftafell National Park, a wilderness area within the larger Vatnajojull National Park. Home to the massive Skaftafellsjokull and Svinafellsjokull glaciers, and a myriad of majestic hiking trails through picturesque Icelandic beauty.
