Get a Lay of the Land
Today you’ll enjoy a half day private tour of the highlights of Taipei with an English-speaking guide. After a pickup at your Taipei Hotel lobby, you'll pass by the Presidential Office and will then visit the first stop of the day, Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall: an impressive monument to an important Chinese leader. At this majestic hall, you’ll enjoy over 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions and ponds. Nearby the Memorial Hall are two classical-style buildings, the National Theater and the National Concert Hall. Afterwards, visit the National Palace Museum, home to nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artifacts and artwork. While many popular pieces remain on permanent display, other items are rotated regularly, making each visit unique. You’ll also stop at Xingtian Temple, a popular temple dedicated to Guan Yu, the patron saint of businessmen. This temple is situated on a street corner near the center of the city and is known for its sculptures of dragons that are featured in this temple’s design.
Enjoy a four-hour private evening tour with an English-speaking private guide. Modern Taipei is home to many temples, markets and exciting dining opportunities. This private tour combines these urban highlights with a visit to Lungshan (Dragon Mountain) Temple, Taipei's oldest and most famous as well as one of Taiwan's finest examples of temple architecture. Stop and enjoy a delicious dinner at internationally acclaimed restaurant Din Tai Fung, famous for their xiaolongbao (soup dumplings). There is also the opportunity to visit the lively Hwahsi Street Night Market and view Taipei's skyline atop the Taipei 101 Observatory (entrance ticket is included).
