Get a Lay of the Land
Meet your private guide and driver and spend a half day exploring New Delhi’s grandiose monuments and holy sites. Designed in a typical British colonial style, the city has a surprising amount of greenery with tree-lined avenues and quaint colonial bungalows. Visit the Laxminarayan Temple, a modern Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi, and the first large-scale Hindu Temple built in Delhi.
Next, drive to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a prominent Sikh Temple near Connaught Place. The bustling temple houses a community kitchen staffed by volunteers that serve at least 8,000 people daily. If you are interested, it is possible to volunteer at the temple during meal service or join in a simple traditional vegetarian lunch at the temple with the community. Drive past the 138-foot tall war memorial India Gate, Parliament House, the Secretariat buildings and the Vice Regal Palace, which is now the official residence of the President of India. At the end of the tour, return to your hotel by private vehicle.

DARJEELING
Lace Up for Some Fresh Air
After breakfast, your guide will take you to the Darjeeling Railway station, where you will board a train heading up to Ghoom. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, nicknamed the "Toy Train", is a 2-foot narrow-gauge railway from Siliguri to Darjeeling in West Bengal, run by the Indian Railways. Since 1999 the train has been a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. Only two railways claim this status, the Semmering Railway in Austria being the second one. The trip on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway has changed little since that time (1920’s), and continues to delight travelers and rail enthusiasts. The passion of some people is so great that the train has its own preservation and support group, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Society. Passing through the Darjeeling roads and market area, you will reach the Ghoom railway station in about 45 minutes. Ghoom is situated at 7,410 Feet above sea level and it is the second highest railway station to be reached by a steam engine. Your vehicle will pick you up on conclusion at the Ghoom railway station.
Today your private guide takes you on a tour of Darjeeling visiting the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (closed on Thursdays), the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursdays), Tenzing - Gombu Rock and the Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center (closed on Sundays).

DARJEELING
Breathe the Mountain Air
Early morning after a cup of tea, you will visit Tiger Hill before the break of dawn, to see the sun rise over Mount Everest, the highest mountain peak in the world. Darjeeling owes its grandeur to its natural beauty, its clean fresh mountain air and above all, the smiling resilient people for whom it is a home. Known for its natural splendour, Darjeeling’s best gift to its visitors is the dawn of a new day. The mountains awaken first with a tentative peeking of the sun. A steep ride, five kilometers from Ghoom, or an invigorating walk up a steep incline, leads sun worshippers to Tiger Hill. The air is chilly with darkness and damp. To the east, a dull orange sun emerged painting the sky with brilliant strokes of magenta, gold, orange and fuchsia. The snow-capped Everest, Kanchenjunga, and other peaks slowly emerge from slumber to start a new day.
The hills surrounding Darjeeling are lush and green with terraces lined with tea leaves. Darjeeling tea is synonymous with India itself, available in a range of varieties ranging from white, green and black. A geographically protected product, Darjeeling Tea can only be grown in tea gardens surrounding Darjeeling in the state of West Bengal. With your private driver and guide, visit a local tea plantation and factory to learn about the tea making process of India's favorite beverage. Sample the plantation's tea, and enjoy a relaxing lunch before returning to your hotel.
Enjoy a free evening to follow your interests, whether you step out to explore or unwind at your hotel.
