Visit the Great Mosque, stop at the president’s palace and the parliament house. You will stop at Cheick Anta Diop University to visit the picturesque district of Medina and the residential district of Fann. Just twenty minutes from Dakar Port, the ferryboat will arrive at Goree. A Change of Scenery
This morning, meet your driver and guide and settle in for a transfer from Dakar to Saint Louis through Pink Lake. This scenic journey lasts approximately 9 hours and takes you through some of the most fascinating sites characteristic of this part of West Africa.
The first stop takes you to the white sandbanks of Lake Retba, also known as the Pink Lake. The lake’s name stems from its unique color caused by Dunaliella salina algae. It is also known for its high salinity reaching up to 40% in some areas, which exceeds that of the Dead Sea. Get a chance to meet the local salt harvesters and observe them work tirelessly in the hot African sun using their colorful tackle. You will also get an opportunity to interact with the members of the Fulani ethnic group who inhabit the surrounding villages.
The journey continues to Thies, a Senegalese town known for its tradition of tapestry-making. Here, you will visit the National Art Tapestry Gallery and have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch proceed to Saint Louis.

Situated on a major palearctic migratory route, this park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Some of the world’s greatest concentrations of white pelicans and flamingos can be seen here, with a dazzling population of more than 10,000 of each species. As you travel through the park, take in the abundance of wildlife and the vibrant energy of a place that comes to life with flocks of birds swirling mid-air, as if performing a synchronized dance routine right in front of your eyes.
