The afternoon drives depart the lodge in the late afternoon, only returning at park closure time after sunset, thus maximizing the time you spend out in the park to enjoy those special sightings. The drives follow the course of the Chobe River as your experienced guide interprets the bush signs and tracks in search of the resident wildlife. This afternoon, after tea you'll join up with others at the lodge for your afternoon game drive. In the Moremi, one can experience excellent savanna game viewing as well as bird-watching on the lagoons. There are also thickly wooded areas, which are home to the shy, and rare, leopard. To the northeast lies the Chobe National Park which borders the Moremi Game Reserve. You'll be out for a few hours and enjoy a traditional sun-downer before heading back to the lodge.

It is time to head out on an open 4x4 vehicle for an exciting game viewing adventure. Game drives are conducted either in the early morning hours and in the afternoons to accommodate for the fluctuating temperatures throughout the day. Your expert guiding team know the reserve very well, and they will bring you to some of the best viewing spots in no time. Keep your eyes peeled for the magnificent African beast, and don’t forget to look out for smaller bush creatures that call this part of Botswana their home. In the early morning, set out on an adventurous game drive to explore the beautiful surrounds of your lodge. The Makgadikgadi Pan features a series of large salt pans in the middle of the dry savannah in Northeastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world, and interspersed between the pans are sand dunes, rocky islands and peninsulas, and desert terrain. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, which once covered an area larger than Switzerland, but dried up several thousand years ago. Today, the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve is the scene of large animal migrations. In the wet season, the reserve offers good wildlife viewing, particularly when large herds of zebra and wildebeest begin their westward movement to the Boteti region. Other species that can be spotted include gemsbok, eland and red hartebeest, as well as kudu, bushbuck, duiker, giraffe, springbok, steenbok, and even elephant, with all the accompanying predators, as well as the rare brown hyena. Your morning is guaranteed to be full of excitement, spectacular views, and amazing experiences.

Situated in the arid desert landscapes of northeastern Botswana, the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park covers 4900 square kilometers of what once was an ancient super-lake. The western boundary of the park is formed by the Boteti River Valley, the last stretch of Okavango water snaking its way through the dry desert sands and attracting extraordinary migrations to its banks. Vast herds of zebra migrate through the area during the dry season, and a sight of thousands of them along the Boteti River Valley is a truly memorable experience. The zebra migration, some 20,000-zebra strong, usually starts arriving at Leroo La Tau in May and ends in early November.

Leroo La Tau is situated on the western bank of the Boteti River some 140 kilometres south east of Maun. The river’s eastern bank forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The Park stretches away from the banks of the Boteti River, through its interior of scrubland and grasslands. The western boundary supports mineral rich grass lands, which, along with the River supplies the much needed sustenance for the herds which inhabit the park. As Leroo La Tau is built on cliffs over 10 metres high, guests can enjoy an extensive vista. The main reception and lounge area is also located on top of these cliffs; this raised vantage point ensures unsurpassed views of the river and the Makgadikgadi to the east.
