Day 1
Longyearbyen Longyearbyen is the largest populated area on the terrirory of Svalbard, located in the high Norwegian Arctic. The settlement is popular as the most easily accessed frontier in the Arctic, and is an ideal base for the greater exploration of Svalbard. There is a wide range of accommodation alternatives available in Longyearbyen, from guesthouses to full service, high quality hotels. Longyearbyen also has a camping, near the airport, which is the northernmost camping of the world. After arrival in Longyearbyen, enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you are free to explore Longyearbyen on your own. We recommend dinner at one of the town’s excellent restaurants. Basecamp Trapper´s Hotel is situated in the middle of Longyearbyen close to pubs, restaurant, the bank and shopping mall. This is no doubt the roughest and most special hotel on Spitsbergen. The lodge is furnished with drift wood and board from Barentsburg, the Russian settlement on Spitsbergen, and slate stones and furs. You will get the feeling of entering a Spitsbergen hunter’s cottage. No rooms are alike, except for the comfortable beds and bathrooms. Breakfast is served around the long table in Traveler’s Club and the Cognac attic with the ceiling of glass, gives you a perfect view at the arctic light. Overnight at Basecamp Trapper´s Hotel. |

Day 2
Longyearbyen After breakfast, you will be transported to Basecamp Trapper’s Station and dog kennel, about 12 km from Longyearbyen, where 90 Alaskan Huskies eagerly are waiting to be picked out for a trip. We help harnessing the dogs, and on this trip 2 persons will share one sledge. Dog sledging under the stars and the Northern light is an unforgettable memory! We recommend 4-course Arctic dinner at Huset restaurant the last evening. Overnight at Basecamp Trapper´s Hotel. |
